- there is something a bit odd about the sound on this one. i can't quite put my finger on it. my setup was exactly the same for every show i recorded there, so my gut tells me that the stage and PA sound was being tweaked for this show differently than for other acts. i realize i don't have the greatest mic in the world, but i don't think it's related to my rig. maybe. i do recall the main sound engineer telling someone that for son volt, he took the guitars out of the PA mix for the most part because the stage volume was so loud. so maybe there was some funny business going on there. the sound of lucinda's mic (and doug's guitar) seems to clip at points and sounds kind of muffled; i think the snare sounds like shit, but that could be due to many factors.
- in general, the sound guys did a great job at the festival, from what i've heard. i think the louder acts might have thrown a wrench in the works given the audience's (from what i've heard and observed during my first visit there) preference for a quieter mix/vibe.
- lucinda's plainspoken words of common sense in the encore set were particularly enjoyable for me... i realize some folks don't like to mix their politics and music, but her folksly rambles were a very welcome kind of preaching to this choir, at least.
