This was my second time seeing Lucinda and she was as terrific as I remembered. I came very, very close to not making it to this show. My car, which I hadn't used all week, suddenly refused to start. Luckily, I was leaving quite early (typical taper - first in/last out) and when I realized that my car battery was dead, I put out a general call for help on Facebook and received a quick reply back from Joe T. who came over and gave my car a boost with just enough time for me to make it the 45 minute drive to Vernon. Huge kudos go out to Joe for that.

The venue was very nice and quite small. It had a nice balcony and I decided to risk buying tickets off a bit to the side but in the front row of an almost private box. It was a brilliant plan. Not only was I close to the stage, I was near a stack, had no one in front of me and only had to worry about a total of 8 others that were in the box with me in 3 rows of 3. For the most part, they were well behaved and this shows in the recording.

While I have very little faith in industry awards, it is still worthy to mention that Lucinda has been nominated for at least 15 Grammys and has won 3 times. Despite that, when you see her on stage, she's very humble and clearly down to earth. Her false starts and in one case during this show an actual song abortion always seem to show Lucinda's humanity. I was cringing in pain with her during the beginning of Lafayette as she struggled with her capo and getting her pitch right. She seemed very vulnerable up on stage and after several uncomfortable moments, had to call in Stuart for help.

Although when Lucinda spoke she always spoke quietly and often pulled away from the mic making it slightly difficult to hear, her chat is certainly worth the concentration it takes to hear it. Of course, when she sings, her voice rings out clearly and confidently. Enjoy.
