It was the 10th annual Record Store Day and Time Warp Records was putting on a party.
We got there early and discovered that a good friend of mine works at this record store (Insect Surfer Dave).
Being in a smaller independent record store brought back memories of "the Slipped Disc" where I worked in the 1970's.
The store has a very relaxed atmosphere and the band members were in a very talkative mood.
Ike Willis was getting some air outside before the show and since I was wearing a Rubber Soul t-shirt the BEATLES came up.
He sat down and we chatted about different songs and how they can remind you of a special time or place.
Discovered that Ike and I both fell in love with rock and roll after seeing the excitement in that Ed Sullivan TV show.
Of course Ike went on to become a world famous singer and guitar player for Frank Zappa and the Mothers.
Ike opens with a BEATLES song and then says that it was a surprise and then looks over towards me and says "for you".
Coolest thing that has ever happened to me at a concert.
Don Preston plays a keyboard solo on his cell phone during "Go Cry On Somebody Else's Shoulder".
Two women from the audience jumped up and started singing during "We Got The Funk"
Thanks to Time Warp Records and the artists a really good time was had by all.
