"After I heard that Mal Waldron died in Belgium yesterday,
I listened to an uncirculated recording I made at the Village
Vanguard on Dec. 30, 1982.... it was the first of several
tributes to Booker Little & Eric Dolphy, and was led by Mal
Waldron (the pianist of those great sessions) and featured
Charlie Rouse, Benny Bailey, Reggie Workman & Ed Blackwell.
It is an EXCELLENT audience recording on 1 CDr of about
79 minutes... Though Waldron had released a few different
live @ The Vanguard Little/Dolphy tribute bands, I don't believe
this band was recorded for release. So...In memory of
the great Mal Waldron...
(There is an edit approx 6.40 into the first track and a tiny squeep
right at the start, but neither detract from the show.)"
