Bread & Roses is an organization founded by Mimi Farina, sister of Joan Baez, to bring entertainment to shut-ins in prisons, hospitals, and convalescent homes.

Inspired by a B.B. King concert at Sing Sing Prison in 1972, Farina was deeply moved by the healing exchange that occurs between performer and audience.

By 1974, she was recruiting performers and matching them with facilities serving the sick, homeless, disabled, and imprisoned.

This was the third annual fundraiser festival. This tape started with the last song from that wild and crazy harmonica player, Norton Buffalo.

Then it continues into Maria's set. Her music style is very unique and eclectic.

Maria Muldaur. as some of you dead heads will remember, was part of the Jerry Garcia Band in 1978.

At the tale end of this tape was unlabeled filler of John Hall from the group "Orleans", which he left in June 1977.

I don't think the filler material is related to the Bread & Roses show. John wasn't on the bill for this festival, it must be something else.

The tape runs out as "Plutonium Is Forever" gets cut off and that song still rings true today.

I left the filler songs because it's wicked rare and you just don't see any live solo material from John Hall. Anybody know what this is??

I actually enjoyed the song hit song "Run AwayWith Me".
