Oberhausen was a surprisingly great show, though the seating took a bit away from the enjoyment, at least in a hall like that (RAH e.g. is totally different and nice to sit in)
But the performance was top class,

Guy's Diary:
10th May - Oberhausen - Arena
Today we said goodbye to Frankfurt. For sure one of the nicest hotel stays of the tour and a great town for a 'hub'.
After a morning swim and a little bit of sunshine we checked out in the early afternoon for our final run to the airport here.
A bit of a hold up as we arrive during a shift change at the General Aviation terminal.
We wait for the next shift to arrive as the current one doesn't want to help us as it would incur going beyond the 2:00 cutoff.
Soon we're all aboard the plane and Alex, our hostess serves us a light salad on what is only a short hop to Oberhausen.
We're met when we arrive by Mannfred's team of drivers. Mannfred is the main man at 'Stars and cars' but always seems to have the bad luck with traffic.
The last time we saw him was in Stockholm where we spent 2 hours plus in the cars in traffic. Today there was a crash on the autobahn so we were crawling once again.
Not too bad a Mannfred used the satnav to it's full effect and figured out a detour.
Pretty soon we're at the gig to find Kerry outside the backstage area taking a well earned few minutes in the brilliant sunshine with his book.
I took these pics ( http://www.guyfletcher.co.uk/cms/index.php/page/10th%20May%20-%20Oberhausen%20-%20Arena) from a small hole in the back-cloth whilst I was offstage during Sultans of Swing.
The band is reduced to a four piece for this one and Matt, John and I tend to wander off to the dressing room for liquid refreshment.
I grabbed the camera this evening and snapped a couple of shots. Below, I'm playing the organ with my right hand during Local Hero, hence the blurred image.
I wanted to take a shot as the lights turn on the audience
After show it's another runner back to Cologne airport for the flight into Prague. That's 4 cities today. Frankfurt, Cologne, Oberhausen and Prague.
We all check in to the hotel where we will spend the next four nights.
A brief cuppa PG with Danny and Richard, few laughs and a bit of music and off to bed.

Richard's Diary:
Behaved myself last night, no gin and tonics, straight to the room and in bed with my guitar.
I've got a new little tune I've been chasing down that I'm very pleased with but not quite finished and woke this morning with the guitar slung across my chest.
I ordered room service and continued playing.
I've got it sorted now and will put it on the pile of new things already completed.
I'll get round to doing some recording later this autumn and begin a new album.
We checked out of our fab Frankfurt hotel and flew to Oberhausen for tonight's gig.
Actually, we flew to Koln (Cologne) and drove 60 minutes to Oberhausen.
With the way the tour is set up, we don't stay or get to see much of many of the cities and towns we play, simply fly in, do the show and fly out.
The best part of it all is the show which we always look forward to, can't wait to get on stage and play and tonight was no exception at the Konig-Pilsener Arena for 9,000 plus wonderful fans.
It was a grand show, at times a fly by the seat of our pants show, a few missed cues and interesting chord changes but loads of fun and more than a few smiles on stage.
The audience was with us all the way and rewarded us with a full standing house for the encores.
The usual runner back to Koln and the Legacy where Alex our hostess had a cocktail shaker, ice, Plymouth Gin, exceptionally dry vermouth, olives and a steaming paella waiting.
Before we knew what hit us we were in Prague where we will base for the next few days and play here tomorrow night. What a tour!

So long,

Richard

Thanks to the band, and to Guy and Richard for their awesome online tour diaries

And new with this torrent, some more (fan) perceptions of this show, this time from the great local hero site (http://www.local-hero.org/php/main.php):

Dirk - Germany
Review: Super show.
Sat in first row in front of MK.
Good sound and enthusiastic audience.
11.000 fans. Sold out arena.

Saw MK and band coming in their 3 Mercedes before the show.
Unfortunately MK sat on the other side, so he could not see us 6 fans
waiting. They did not stop. :-(

Now on to Cologne!!!

Review: What can I say? Once again a phantastic show and a great crowd! For the first 3-4 songs the sound in the first rows was poor but after that it got better and better.
The soundcrew is working hard to get a good sound for everybody at the venue.

A fried of mine saw MK and his band for the first time and he was very impressed after the show. That doesn´t really surprise me ;-))

Lars Muehlner - Germany
Review: Unbelievable! What a great gig and a great crowd! MK + Band in topform! Standing ovations after SOS, SAN and Telegraph! HFB and the end of Marbletown were amazing!!
All songs were brilliant.
The best concert for me so far!! Can't wait for Cologne!!! The sound was really good (i was sitting 2nd row in front of MK)!
