Band: Mark Knopfler & Band
Venue: Stadthalle
City: Wien/Vienna
Country: Austria
Date: Saturday, July, 3rd 2010
Bootleg Title: Lucky Sultans from far away
Taper: HighVoltage
Recording Equipment: Sony ECM-TS125 Electret Condenser Business Microphone -> Olympus LS-10 Linear PCM Recorder
Mic Position: stuck on chest
Location: back of the arena, right corner (from stage view)
Recorder Settings: Mic Sens low, Low Cut off, Mic Zoom Set Standard
Tour: Get Lucky Europe Tour 2010
Opening Acts: -
Audience: estimated ~9.000 (?) (all seated, last upper rank closed)

Lineage: Sony ECM-TS125 Electret Condenser Business Microphone -> Olympus LS-10 (PCM WAV 44.1kHz/16bit) , -> PC -> Creative WaveStudio (PCM WAV, 44.100 Hz/16 Bit/Stereo - 172 KB/Sec) -> WAV -> Nero Wave Editor -> FLAC Level 6

Edits: general volume adaption, COUNTLESS channel volume adpations where uneven (presumably caused by a wrong recorder/mic setting - I STILL haven't found out what mode works best - but this is also influenced by MK's typical song progress of loud and quiet (so that'd have an effect too, I'm sure)... sounds as if the mic/rec setting has a dynamic pickup characteristic...), equalizer, fade-in & fade out, cut out of some short clips (of audience screams) between songs, track split, flac level 6

Special Notes:
My first Mark Knopfler concert - my parents attended a gig in Wiesen in 1996 during the Golden Heart tour when I was 10, and they didn't take me with them^^... anyway, a fantastic gig, and despite being at the very back of the arena (hence the title includes the phrase 'far away'!), but the acoustics on the night were quite good, and the view as well (as we were in the back, right from stage view, quite high up in the arena)!

Soundquality: clear audience recording, with little interference from the audience - unfortunately there's some "sound pumping" in the recording (most notable during the quieter songs) - 8/10

*****
Just a quick note how to identify my recording: after "Coyote" Mark welcomes the people and says: "Thank you very much....so how you're doing out there, are you alright?...Good to see ya, it's lovely to be back in this beautiful place!" and then, 'lamenting' about his current back problems ...
At the beginning of "Telegraph Road" (about 12 secs in) a male voice in the right channel asks 'Telegraph Road?' and another voice (mine) confirms. And at 1:31 in "Brothers in Arms" someone from the audience shouts "super!!" and you can hear quiet laughters after that.

have fun!
