Marshall Crenshaw - EMP Museum Hall Of Fame, Seattle Washington 1982-07-10 AUD complete show with an extremely rude audience, first album tour (Bill B tape) mp3 sample included

This tape is most probably the master. Bill himself has disappeared, so I can't ask him. When we moved I did not realize that along with the reel tapes, there was also a stash of cassettes we had received from Bill. This is one of them.

And you thought New York audiences were rude. You ain't heard nuthin' yet, welcome to Seattle. The ungratefulness the crowd shows to what is a very short set is either shocking or incredibly entertaining, depending upon your viewpoint. Let's just say they are letting it all hang out, and we'll wait for your comments on it.

I say "we" as I could not have done anything nearly as well without the help of one particular guy who neatly guided me through learning about Mr. Crenshaw and his work. Thanks to "ibjustaguy" for help, guidance and the following notes. I couldn't have done this without him:

--

Band:
Marshall Crenshaw - guitar, lead vocals
Chris Donato - bass
Robert Crenshaw - drums
and....
John Crenshaw - xylophone, percussion (on various tracks)

Setlist (runtime 49m23s):

1. Intro/There She Goes Again
2. Not For Me
3. Brand New Lover
4. I'll Do Anything
5. Move It (Cliff Richard cover)
6. Mary Anne
7. Rockin' Around In NYC
8. Soldier Of Love (Lay Down Your Arms)
9. Gotta Lotta Livin' To Do (Elvis Presley cover)
10. Someday, Someway
11. She Can't Dance

12. --encore break w/accompanying rudeness...lol-

13. Cynical Girl
14. The Usual Thing

All songs come from the first album except those I've noted as covers. Soldier Of Love is a cover but appears on the first album, the other covers do not. Move It and Gotta Lotta Livin' To Do were fairly common covers that I've heard in several other recording from this tour so no surprises. But none the less, this a nice recording for its vintage. And a touch of history associated with it makes it sort of special as well. As to whether there are other recording from this date out there, I can't be sure.
