I've lived in the Winchester area for 34 years and it's exceptionally rare for legendary musicians to drop by. The last one I remember was Carl Palmer in 2016, also at the Bright Box Theater, a tiny venue with excellent sound on the Old Town Mall. As if I wasn't already sold, when Martin Barre posted, "I've chosen a very special selection of music for you, making this a unique opportunity and the only acoustic shows on this tour," I went all-in and bought VIP tickets to both shows for myself and my son to support the venue and the band as much as possible, hoping it wouldn't be another seven year wait for another act of this caliber. I don't usually do "meet and greets" but Martin also promised to do several songs that wouldn't be played in the main set, in addition to some story-telling, jokes, and audience interaction. While I would have preferred more music than talk, it was a lot of fun and very informal. I decided to inlcude only the three short songs they played and not the tiny snippets of other audience requests. The entire session was unplugged and would have too much hiss if I tried to make it more audible. I added some decibles to the songs but tried not to overdo it. As much as I wanted to see the "Brief History of Tull" show, there's no way it would have worked in this tiny place. This was a fun, unique show, an "Afternoon of Acoustic Delights" indeed.
