I woke up well before dawn to a text message that blanket and tarbs were
down at all the stages. I got there early and met up with lots of old
friends who I see every year. I meet my friend who will be running my
backup rig so more acts are covered and give him a quick lesson. My day
starts with Bill Kirchen & Austin de Lone at Banjo Stage. As usual Bill
Kirchin puts on a fun set. After the set I trek over to Arrow Stage. I
was very interested in the Colvin & Earle set at Arrow Stage and had not
heard of Delta Rae. When Delta Rae came on they had me hooked. One of the
highlights of the festival for me and a band I definitely plan to see again.
The last time I discovered a band in this way was when I saw Devil Makes
Three years ago and now I see them whenever they are in the area. Colvin
& Earle followed Delta Rae and I enjoyed their set as well. Whenever I can
see Steve Earle at this festival it is a good time. After the set it is
back to the spot at Banjo Stage for Boz Scaggs who never disappoints. The
final set was Mavis Staples who I have seen many times. This set was a bit
odd with lots of Mavis rambling between songs as if she had spent a little
to much time with Wavy Gravy whom she mentioned seeing.
