None of the above material appears on any of MF’s official albums, including
Message From Birdland, which is from 1959. Though some of it sounds to have
come from vinyl. Personnel varies, though MF introduces most soloists. Disc 1 had a couple
of other tracks without MF, and the track order may have been different in performance.
Disc 2 had some repairs, as the tracks were incomplete. Track 4 was patched at
10:52 with the ending from Track 1. Track 6 was patched at 8:42 with the ending
of the same tune from Disc 1. Track 7 was split into two different tracks on my CD-R
copy, and I rejoined them with a small silent spot in between in case there were bars missing.
Disc 1 originally came to me on a TDK D-90 cassette, which I’d EQed and captured to CD-R
several years ago. I used the CD-R master as the source here. Sound quality varies from
very good to fair, but everything is quite listenable, considering the era.
