This recording of MF on a superb night came to me some months ago, and the recording was on
the rough side: a quarter step high in pitch, with some serious static and noise off and on
throughout the recording. MF is really 'on' for this, and so I did what I could to improve the audio.
I recombined the tracks and then stretched the time to 103% which dropped the pitch .53 semitones.
Then I used the hiss reduction setting to reduce the static and hiss, though I had to be careful
not to take away the music. This improved things a fair amount, though the result was a bit
lacking in treble at that point. I used the EQ to boost various frequencies from about
800hz to 10k, and then divided the recording into tracks again.
It's not perfect and not meant to be definitive, but it's definitely better than it was and very
listenable. On the bright side, the recording is complete other than the tape flips and includes
MF's between-song banter. Again, as with most '79 recordings, MF can do no wrong and
he's hitting everything he's aiming at. The crowd is insane, and this recording does a nice job
of capturing the exitement of the event.
