01 Everybody Loves the Blues
02 Star Trek the Motion Picture
03 Rocky II Disco
04 MF speaks
05 Om Sai Ram
06 Christmas for Moderns

This is a very good sounding audience recording. It's incomplete, but
contains some rare tunes. Some of them are of questionable musical value,
but MF was very very "on" for this gig, and it's worth hearing for that
alone. The way MF interupts his opening cadenza to talk about the blues
makes me think it was a clinic or some kind of special event. Vemu Mukunda,
who appears on more than one album, makes an appearance for a rare live
performance of Om Sai Ram.

'Star Trek the Motion Picture' was only released on a 45 rpm single. The Xmas tune
puts this in December or very late November (this is the most recent live version
of that tune that I have), and since Trek was released in December of 1979, I
think we can at least date the show to that month.

Only a few musicians are introduced, and the closest
official personnel listing I could find was the 'Hot' album itself, recorded
several months earlier. So it's possible a name or two in the list below are not
accurate. Drummer Jim Rupp joined the band shorlty after the "Hot" album was
recorded. I know Rich Szabo played for MF briefly in 1979, and he was replaced
by Alan Wise in early 1980. Some 1979 photos from Rich's website of gigs from around
this time (photos are included here and can be seen at
http://www.richszabo.com/scrapbook/scrapbook5.htm) include
Mukunda, which suggest that Rich might be in the section here, too. But the
trumpet section was a bit of a revolving door around 79/80 so who knows.

In the recording, MF mentions a musician named 'Alan' something, and I'm trusting
the info from Szabo's website that his name was 'Alan Music'.
