Another year is here and I'll try to get as much of it as I can again. The Festival is again being broadcast by KBOO FM. They are a community radio station which is listener funded. Please support them if you can. Only four day's this year since the 4th is on a Wednesday. Again, I've tried to find and "fix" all the blemishes. Enjoy the show's....twofthrs
McKinley is a blues and soul singer based in San Francisco. He regularly performs at festivals, concerts and blues clubs in the US and Europe. His tributes to Otis Redding have received high praise, with critics commending his voice as having a profound likeness to the king of soul. Alongside Otis Redding, McKinleys music heroes include Solomon Burke, David Ruffin, Bobby Womack and Teddy Pendergrass.
McKinley was born to Texan parents in Sacramento, California, where he spent his early childhood in a house filled with music. His father, a Baptist preacher, and housewife mother, sang rousing African American spirituals. McKinley played drums in high school, and picked up the harmonica, and later moved to San Francisco where clubs such as Dottie Ivorys Stardust Lounge and Nickies Bar-B-Que had become popular with local blues fans. McKinleys first big music performance was in 1986, when he asked to sing at the Sacramento State Fairs first African American Day celebration.
