OldNeumanntapr Notes-
This show was recorded by Jack Hunt, my friend and taping partner from Salt Lake City, UT. Jack sent me a box of his DATs that he wanted transferred when his last DAT recorder died, and fortunately mine were still working. Sadly that is no longer the case, as all my DAT machines have given up the ghost, so I’m glad I was able to transfer it when I did. This recording came to me
as a two-channel matrix, with the board mix in one channel and the signal from the audience microphones in the other. It was very unsettling to listen to that way, so I used RCA Y cables to combine both channels, creating a monaural 50/50 matrix blend. I think the resulting recording is infinitely more listenable now than it was before. If I had a good mixer I could have panned each channel a bit to better simulate a wider simulated-stereo separation, and been able to give something other than a 50/50 split matrix, but alas I had no mixer available. Jack told me that the signal at the show was mixed in the way hence described, and he wanted me to put it on CD for him and make it easier to listen to, so I decided to combine the channels. I’m not sure if his D7 was the lead deck or he patched from another DAT recorder.
