Comments :
Meshell's second Paris show on the "Weather" tour.
The previous Paris show was on 22nd November 2011 @ Le New Morning.
It's still available here : http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=383356
The line-up remains the same for this 2012 performance.
The two covers are still in the set : "Pink Moon" (originally written by Nick Drake) and Prince's "Lady Cab Driver" featured in a drastically rearranged version.
A few interesting changes in the repertoire, particularly the inclusion of "Lola" and "Shirk", two of my favorite tunes.
"See Line" seems to be a new song/jam. The title is yet uncertain, however that's how it appeared on the setlist I snatched from the stage floor after the show ;-)
It will probably be included later in one of Meshell's next albums, as it is often the case with her.
It's always very interesting to watch her try out new stuff on stage.
By the way, there were ads in the lobby for her forthcoming release on Na?ve Records, scheduled 9th October 2012.
It will be a tribute to Nina Simone featuring Sinead O'Connor, Lizz Wright, Valerie June, Toshi Reagon, Cody Chestnutt and others.
The record will be called "Meshell Ndegeocello : Pour Une ?me Souveraine - A Dedication To Nina Simone".
"Pour Une ?me Souveraine" is French for "For A Sovereign Soul".
The show was far from sold-out and the venue was entirely seated.
We had better seats than we expected, closer to the stage, yet also closer to one of the exits.
Approx. 500+ people attended, but many of them left early during the performance.
You can hear some of them passing by me during the quieter parts of the concert, e.g. "Shirk".
Enjoy'n'share the music! :-)
