I started this about a year-and-a-half ago, selected about half and shelved it. I picked it up again recently, picked the other half, reselected the first half and finally finished it up. There were a few guidelines I tried to adhere to. First, I tried to include as many configurations of bands as possible. The funky Meters and George Porter Jr. and the Runnin' Pardners dominate, mostly because of logistics. I would've liked to have included more songs by the Original Meters but there aren't a lot of shows out there pre-1975 and, by then, their setlists were predominantly from the Reprise/WB albums. This would not have been nearly as complete as it ended up had it not been for Porter and his Can't Beat The Funk album from 2011 which resurrected a large number of somewhat obscure original Meters songs and reintroduced them to his live shows. I was also successful in not using more than one song from any given show, so this collection spans the years from 1975 to March of this year. I left a good bit of pre- and post-song banter here in instances where there was good humor or historical context (or both), especially regarding the reintroduced songs. Finally, I'd like to thank all those who made this possible, most importantly the musicians. I'd also like to thank all those who contributed to the recording, mastering and distribution of the shows that are represented here. I searched them all, here are those who "signed" their work...
