Here's a little gem to celebrate Michael Nesmith's return to the stage and his totally unexpected
upcoming UK dates. This is from my own master tape and has never been previously circulated.
Lossy versions of these tracks are available on YouTube etc. but I've never seen
this show on Dime previously so I'm not sure that there's a decent version of this in general
circulation.

My intention was to do fresh transfer of this tape but unfortunately it doesn't play to well on my
current deck - a Nakamichi DR-3. So this is from a transfer I made around 10 years ago. In any case
I think it would be difficult to improve on this transfer which sound really nice and bright with
Michaeel's lovely 12 string guitar playing very much to the fore.

I didn't really know much about Michaels solo output when I recorded this. I remember listening to
the show on the radio while making the recording and enjoying it but I didn't re-visit it
much for about 6 months. Then one day I was browsing in Bruce's record shop in Glasgow while I had
a few moments to wait on my bus home from college and came across a cut-out ( remember those! ) of
Magnetic South selling for 50p. Even for an impoverished student like me this was too good a deal to
miss so I bought it and was immediatley captivated by the fabulous playing and superb songs. Went
back the next day and bought Loose Salute for the same pricely sum.

Anyway, that was the start of a lifelong obsession with the man's music both solo and with the
Monkees. When I eventually got around to re-visiting this show it inspired me to go out and buy
a 12 string guitar just so I could play Some of Shelley's Blues just like Michael.
So looking forward to seeing the man in Glasgow on 26th October - my birthday too!

Enjoy!
