Mick Fleetwood Blues Band - Talk Story & Concert

Having a conversation in Hawaii is known as "Talk Story".

The show opened in a living room type setting. A sofa and easy chair
in the center of the stage. A drum kit set up to the side and a guitar standing by
the easy chair.

First, Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa introduced Mick Fleetwood and read a
proclamation declaring today - July 10, 2014 as Mick Fleetwood Day
in the County of Maui.

After accepting the proclamation, Mick discusses various topics with
the audience and Rick Vito. Mick also introduced his "imaginary friend", Victor.

The audience was then prompted to ask a few questions before a pre-concert break.

The talk story flac files are prefixed as "MFBB-Talk- ".

The concert portion of the show began with a number of blues oriented
tunes along with a good helping of early Fleetwood Mac songs.

Throughout the performance, various special guests appeared. Sax and
trombones were a great addition in various places.

Several years ago, Mick Fleetwood played a number of shows with his
"Island Rumours Band". Joining him tonight were Willie K and Eric
Gilliom from that group.

If you downloaded the Willie K Warehouse Blues Band show from a few
months ago, you heard Willie K sing "Songbird" with Mick on talking
drum. Tonight Rick Vito joined in and made this a very stellar performance.

Some of the longer pre-song talking segments are broken down into their
own tracks in this torrent. Oftentimes during these segments, stagehands
were busy moving equipment around for upcoming guests. Rick Vito took
the opportunity to pass along some interesting information.

He let us know that Mick Fleetwood's 97 year old mother was in the audience
and dedicated "Fleetwood Boogie" to her. Among other comments, he reminded
the audience that Led Zeppelin's "When The Levee Breaks" was actually an
old delta blues tune.

What else went on?

Percussion and extra drums joined in for Mick's drum solo during "World
Turning".

And finally towards the end of the show, Mick starts banging away at the
drums with the rest of the band starting to build into something.
Behind the band, a red curtain was backlit with many human silhouettes
faintly showing. As the song progresses, the curtain lifts revealing
Zenshin Daiko (drummers) and the song "Tusk" breaks out.

There's probably a You Tube video of this to check out. A lady named
Isa (sp?) belly danced amid several swirling costumes.

If all that sounds interesting, you'll definitely enjoy this show.
