The Newton Theater, built in 1923 and designed to hold 1,000 seats, held the likes of Micky Dolenz (The Monkees) and his band last night. It appeared to be a full house with fans ranging from teens to silver foxes. The later were advised not to dance in the aisles. Performing a set consisting of many Monkees classics with a few covers thrown in for good measure, the band played two sets that lasted just shy of 90 minutes. Synchronized Monkees video graced the walls of the Newton and about a quarter of the crowd stayed late for a meet and greet with Micky. A splendid time was had by all.

This was my first attempt at recording a show in several years. Had stopped when my old deck died so I just gave up the habit. Have a few shows coming up later this year that I want to grab so figured it was time to get back in the game. For the first time out with a mike attached to my phone it's not half bad. I had the levels a bit too high so there is a bit of clipping but the show is quite listenable. I was stationed right in front of the soundboard on the aisle with an usher standing at my shoulder a good part of the show. So it was a set-it and forget it type of situation. But I think it all worked out, enjoy!

This is part of the Atlasstar Attic Treasures Series. My attic consists of thousands of cassettes collected since the 70's. I will post them in no particular order as I pull them out of the attic and convert to digital. Some of these artists I know well and collect myself, other I know little about just picked up along the way. I will provide as much info as I can but if anyone can add any insight to the recordings it would be appreciated. If the same recording is circulating in better quality please let me know as I have no intention of polluting the trading pool. A list of all recordings in this series is included with the torrent.

All recordings are kept as original as possible with minimal processing. Unless noted otherwise the only adjustments made are Automatic Phase Correction, Level adjustments and cleaning of any rough or abrupt cuts.
