(TomP) RE-SEED

Contrast clause:
This is a DAB digital alternative (now allowed to coexist in new Dime rules) to:

1. Post of an analog FM recording of this same broadcast by Tantris88, both of which are fresh
transmissions direct from NOS archive tapes
http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=192314

2. Disc 12 of an original legacy recording on VARA FM posted by outpostnorth
http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=85521
-----------------------------------------------------------

This recording got 1700 downloads before it was cruelly banned when another FM recording (log
dead) was posted, but now it is allowed on Dime, so I though I would post so folks can hear what
they have been missing.

Note that it is recorded at a lower volume level as DAB dynamic peaks are larger, so do even the
volume levels if comparing to an FM broadcast.

All that has changed are the info and md5 files, so feel free to help seed if you still have the
original files - and if you don't have it, then grab it while you can and...

...Enjoy !!

Miles Davis "Lost Quintet"
==========================

Rotterdam
November 9th, 1969
==================

Source: BBC DAB (MPEG-I Layer II at 192 kb/s joint stereo) > Yamaha 1300 audio HDR
Editing: None other than Fade in / out before writing to CD-R
Transfer >wav (Nero 7 with jitter reduction) > Flac Frontend (level 6)> flac
Quality: Digital all the way to you, so EX+ (?)

A great performance from the under-recorded legendary group, broadcasted by the BBC for Miles' 80th
anniversary from the archives of Netherlands Public Radio (NOS) archive, supposedly not broadcast
before. Not much more I can say that Miles fans don't already don't know more

Some may question the quality of DAB transmission, but the BBC broadcasts at 192kHz (as permitted by
Dime) and I have had the opportunity to record broadcasts from FM and then the repeats from DAB.
Digital quality was substantially better than FM and with noticeable reduction of background FM
hiss and implusive noise that enable lower levels of musical detail and ambience to be heard.
My FM tuner gets no use now.

2. db.etree.org lists additional segments so you can take your choice
3. I'm told that ROIO copies of this concert do exist, but unlikely of the same quality as this
4. Sorry, no artworks as I'm not very good at that kind of thing - anybody else?
