::: EXC- mono FM studio tape. Check samples for severance, deliberation, anticipation.
::: Warts: Repaired dullspots & dropouts but surely missed a few. Taper cut off deck 'tween trax, transitions smoothed here but some song ends fade quick&some spoken intros start late. Mimi's vocal mike had poor ALC but only an issue during talking&mostly fixed here. #01 start late (but is stunning!).
::: The tape was dated Jan'74 but Farina site has 1974-07-11. Maybe record&broadcast dates, or a transcription error.
::: If someone has more info about radio show, do tell. I searched&didn't find other WBAI shows with this name in this era.
::: Tilde grapheme over letter"n" in Mimi's last name doesn't work well at DIME or in DIMEbot, so omitted here.
::: Mimi didn't release much for MANY yrs after '71"Take Heart"LP w/Tom Jans. Only guested on trax or appeared on comps.
::: Well worth visiting or revisiting this killer site: www.richardandmimi.com
::: COULD someone please share the circulating 1986-06-05 San Luis Obispo,CA Spirit Club Mimi Farina&Banana tape?
::: Along with the entire unreleased Fred Neil studio album with "Jasmine Town", my other biggest dream in life is to hear the Richard Farina publishing demo acetates that are around in limited Dylan collector circles. Another decade has gone by. Please. If you don't want them circulated, I can keep them buried, I would just love to be able to spend some time listening to them.
Recording Information ::: original radio broadcast -> master off-air tape (probably reel) -> ? (analog only generations) -> (1977 transfer) low generation reel (mono single track on 4 track at 19cm) -> 199x transfer with Cool Edit -> wav.
Playback 2021-08-xx ::: wav -> Audacity [normalisation to remove DC offset (NOT to normalize volume), fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch, pop, click, dropout & dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, #01-04 +5.0% & #05-10 +5.35% averaged pitch (speed) fixes with single pass after frequency analysis (talking sounds fast but I compared these to mutliple other sources), NO equalisation (**except some spots in talking to reduce rumble from poor ALC), NO noise reduction] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. Freed 2021-08-xx.
Line-up ::: Margarita Mimi Baez Farina [†R.I.P. 2001†] - acoustic guitar, vocals.
Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.
DimeTravel 0## XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders! This one goes out to Fast Freddie, another lifelong Mimi appreciator! Sincere thanks to whomever uploads this for me. ::: Corrections welcome ::: This is a tape I got back in the 80s, along with a couple of other Mimi items, one I've shared here before. I had written some notes out but never finished it up, when another friend sent along this upgrade, from a reel he got circa '77. This session is notable as Mimi is solo & it showcases her exquisite guitar playing (often buried in other recordings). Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees
