comments:
This is a short (but complete) set and a rocker from
Missing Persons, the earliest one I've heard and my only
one with Action Reaction, one of the few with a U.S drag
(and Terry Bozzio solo). It's an energetic, fun set
with many of the songs that would appear on Spring Session
M a couple of years before it came out. Already sounding fine
in this show, spacey rocky cover of Hello I love you
(I recall hearing that on 1 other recording but I forget
which one). There is 1 brief dropout in Windows, apparently
due to tape wear, this tape had been played some and
is a few generations from the master but not so many
that it sounds hissy. Still a nice recording, no other
noticable flaws to my ears, the last song is from a different
source so I could get the whole song uncut, but all is very
comparable quality. You may not even notice any change at all.
I think this was a free afternoon concert, don't know if it was
broadcast live, this is from a recorded broadcast on WLIR-FM and
I'm almost certain it is the full show, probably a typical
length set for MP around this time since they didn't know
alot of songs yet. Sounded like they already knew these well.
The DJ. at start of the show makes reference to MP being a "new
band" (I'll say, nobody had heard of them yet, only that Zappa's
former drummer was in it. That was good enough for me.) If anyone
has MP in Boston 1983, Please seed it! My tape was taken at show
by security goon and it was a great show! Terry burned!
