Hey, Hey, it's The Monkees. How could I not go to this event? I had not been to the Long Center before so I didn't know what to expect. This venue was built for good acoustics. The seating is angled upwards to improve the view. It's a nice place. There were several video snippets played before the show started and several times during the show. I was on the 5th row. There was an aisle in front of me so I was concerned there would be a lot of traffic. Thankfully there wasn't until the encore. I had failed to get a good recording of Black Sabbath 4 days earlier so I was determined to get a good recording at this show. There were a lot of ushers swarming around so it was hard to get setup until the lights went down. There were no talkers, loud clappers, or you-hooers until the last 2 songs and even then it wasn't bad although you can tell the sound is not as sharp during the last 2 songs because of the crowd that was standing in front of me. I recorded this on the low side so there would be no chance of clipping. I lowered the volume on the left channel 11% to compensate for being to the left of center. Then I doubled the volume on both channels so the volume is in line with most recordings. No other tweaks were done to the sound. I think this is my best recording so far.

If you get the chance don't hesitate to see the Monkees. It's a good show. The song selection is good. While Davy is missed the other 3 members have plenty songs where they sang. In fact without Davy there were less love songs so the setlist is better than some of the prior year's tours.
