On Aug 25, 2005 fellow Dimer 38f tried to upload this show but the torrent was banned instantly because it contained "Nantucket Sleighride" which appears on Mountain's official 1972 live album "The Road Goes Ever On". No one has come up with this show again since, and if you wonder why this almost excellent sounding, complete and musically top-notch show has not appeared officially within Voiceprint Records' 2005 "Bootleg" Series, either... Well, they simply didn't have it! I still have their list of shows - obviously handed to them by an avid collector - from which they picked the ones to release, and though it is a pretty comprehensive list (though not nearly complete), this very show is conspicuous by its absence. So, this may be a first for many a Mountaintatic here and "out there". I edited the recording that way you can easily splice in the official track without a gap or overlap.

The show itself was obviously recorded officially but unfortunately Felix Pappalardi, who according to Lez West, was responsible for his (Felix') Windfall Records releases, decided to put out a single album only as Mountain's farewell "present" after their first break-up in early 1972 following a tour of the UK. At least, he did recognise what an awesome version of "Nantucket Sleighride" he had at hand and THANKFULLY dedicated the entire 2nd vinyl side to it. BTW, "Long Red" and "Waiting To Take You Away" on that album stem from their Woodstock show while the origin of "Crossroader" is unclear but it of course was recorded at a late 1971/early 1972 show (perhaps at one of their four London Rainbow shows in Nov. 1971 or Jan. 1972 as an ad for the album incorrectly stated the WHOLE LP was recorded there). For sure, it is NOT from this torrented show, I checked! The album version is considerably longer. My, that album sure could stand a DoCD DELUXE treatment, eh?

In autumn and winter 1971, Mountain was doing one last tour, actually to back the "Flowers Of Evil" album, released in November 1971, and at that point they were obviously severly thinking of breaking up. One thing that I like a BIG lot and is really special about this show, is the LOOOOONG intro to "Never in My Life" which they only ever did along this tour; before (and ever after), they (or Lez, for that matter) would simply launch straight into that number. The whole band is firing on all cylinders, and you can REALLY hear Steve Knight's contributions! On a side note, Felix' mike drops out for a few moments at the beginning of another loooong "Silver Paper".

Gratitude must go to the real attentive fan who recorded this show so well and was so kind to share it with other Mountainiados. I received this copy of the show as a hige upgradfe sometime in 2002 from my personal low generation god Larry "Florida Kid" Clark. Big time thanks thanks to you again, mate!

And if you feel like checking Mountain's (and TYA's and Humble Pie's) touring history, I can most highly fellow recommend Dimer Greg Vick's excellent website: http://tourarchive.weebly.com/
If you have any more info, corrections, additions, ticket stubs, posters, ads, newspaper articles or whatever for the listed shows, please contact Greg instantly. And if you happen to have uncirculated shows, please share them here - and probably elsewhere.

And yet again, my Personal Pillorying Pleasure and ceterum censeo: Screw you Sh*tyoda F*ckords, this show is NOT MEANT FOR SALE. I know you give a sh*t but I take my freedom to tell you what I think of you (and likeminded crookleggers).

Please do NOT sell this show or spread it in lossy formats - otherwise: trade, share, collect and enjoy! Always looking forward to your comments and possibly even further info...
