The Benefit FOR THE BLIND Concerts

OSHAWA
(Civic Auditorium)
Part 1: The afternoon shows

On April 22, 1979, The Rolling Stones and The New Barbarians, played two benefit concerts for the Canadian National Institute For The Blind (CNIB) in Oshawa.
This shows can be included in the New Barbarians series as Volume 04 and 05 but because they also include the Stones we decided to present them separately.
The gigs were introduced through John Belushi and Cliff Lorimer. First the New Barbarians played their set, then MJ & KR played Prodigal Son and after that the Stones entered the stage (joined for the last song Jumpin' Jack Flash by the remaining New Barbarians).

For The New Barbarian show: we found two recordings for this show. One of bad quality can be found in particular on the Rockin’ Rott version (RR). Another one came from nzb and of worse quality, but containing the intro. For the Rockin’ Rott recording I declicked, amplified and equilibrated the channels (+25 to 30% to the right channel). This tape ran way to fast and had to be decelerated. Using BTMMR from the evening show as reference I figured out it had to be decelerated by -8%.
The intro and the first second of ‘Breathe On Me’ are coming from the ‘horrible tape’ (ht) after using filters to make it somehow listenable.

For the Stones show we found 3 recordings. The better one is coming from the vinyl release “Place Aux Dames’ (PAD) but missed the 3 first tracks.
For this source I equilibrated the channels (+05 to 15% to the right channel), declicked and phased the channels. For The 3 first tracks, taken from the Rockin’ Rott release I decelerated them by -2,35% and declicked them.

As usual all the infos are taken from The Complete Works Of The Rolling Stones database by Nico Zentgraf: http://www.nzentgraf.de/books/tcw/works1.htm
