::: VG++ crisp, clear AUD for its vintage. Check samples for "so not my thing" or "sold on Ensemble" meditations.
::: Warts: Repaired dullspots & dropouts but surely missed a few. Vox a bit low thruout. Taper cut off deck between trax&some songs fade in quickly/slightly late. #12 small splice at ~1min.
::: COMPARISON CLAUSE: This is the Mk2 2020 remaster of the original"Mk1"2010 ldb001 upload (1617days/202d/l's/no reseeds).
::: BILL 1970-02-19to22 Delaney&Bonnie&friends w.Eric Clapton/The New York Rock&Roll Ensemble/Golden Earring.
::: Originally up'd incorrectly as '69 but corrected to 1970 & it was appaprently decided it is the 19th or 20th.
::: Bill Graham production. Lightshow by Little Princess. Tickets $3.00 Thurs&Sun, 3.50 Fri&Sat.
::: Poster scan __ https://auctions.concertpostergallery.com/ItemImages/000001/1738a_lg.jpeg
::: Feb.21 D&B apparently did 2 sets, so likely at least Fri&Sat all bands did so, so maybe this is a 1st or 2nd set.
::: Guessing LP#03 "Reflection" not yet released, so "current" LP still "Faithful Friends"(issued'69).
::: Sadly, 50 years on, this tape is the ONLY orig. 5-man band live show circulating AFAIK! But it's a good one...
::: Taper captured Delaney&Bonnie set same night&it's been DIMED. If Golden Earring taped, it's not yet surfaced.
::: Venue held 3,000 when sold-out. Venue pic https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d1/69fillmorewest.jpg
::: OUCH! NYRE end up playing"Gravedigger"in the nude (ala Country Joe&The Fish) in "Zachariah" www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5nfMTMqxXc
::: "Zachariah"soundtrack LP"Gravedigger"not just an extended 25secs but different take or quite different mix&overdubs than"Roll Over"LP.
::: "Zachariah-Original Motion Picture Soundtrack"LP"Gravedigger"NOT actual film version.Movie has LOTS of orchestration&is much shorter.
::: The NYR&RE '70"Reflections"LP also issued as"Αντικατοπτρισμοί",a version of the same work with different arrangements&Greek lyrics!
::: Band changed names from "The New York Rock & Roll Ensemble" to "New York Rock Ensemble" in 1971.
::: The New York Rock & Roll Ensemble/New York Rock Ensemble had MANY 45s, ~8 non-LP songs & ~8 edit versions.
::: Only 3 tapes of this band ever DIMED & each was ONLY up'd a single time.
::: Anyone have any other NYRE tapes aside from this Boston 1972 FM//SF Fillmore West 1970-02-xx//Boston 1971-06-18 FM?
::: "Roll Over"tour tape NEEDED w/NYRE playing w/symphony orchestras across USA (including Boston Pops&St.Louis Symphony Orchestra).
::: There is at least one live Michael Kamen tape that makes the rounds, can anyone supply it?
::: ONLY live NYR&RE video footage to surface?"Brandenburg Concerto No.5" www.youtube.com/watch?v=wISDGuwOMpI
::: REQUEST: As it was an UNOFFICIAL release, could someone PLEASE upload this boot LP? self-titled "Former Members Of The N.Y. Rock Ensemble" USA/circa 1973?/Tomorrow TVI-137 (also released on Vibration Records VI-137 _ also a boot). Not even on YTube & I'd love to hear it even if it's pop oriented.
Lineage ::: unknown reel recorder/microphone -> master mono audience reel -> unknown digital transfer method -> 44.10Hz/16bit WAV files > flac (mastering: track indexing only).
Remastering 2020-12-xx ::: 44.10Hz/16bit 2 channel MONO WAV files/flacs -> Audacity [normalisation to remove DC offset, channel/phase alignment, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch, bump, clap, pop, click, dropout & dullspot repairs, gaps removed, volume adjustments, clapping reduced esp. during music, PopMute applied on some clapping between songs, #01-03 OK, 04-06 -0.8%, 07-10 -1.2% pitch (speed) fixes with single pass per segment after frequency analysis & with pitchpipe verification, NO equalisation (except single notch at 49KHz), NO noise reduction] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. (NOTE: Taper likely standing in middle very near stage as guitar amps, percussion, etc are loud, with PA vox somewhat low & "off to side" (mono). Probably NOT a stage patch, tho' it sounds like it in terms of fidelity, but it also isn't getting vox stage monitors. Due to so many percussive sounds by the musicians, it was hard to differentiate, so some noises left in as they may have been percussion or the guitarist). Freed 2020-12-xx.
Line-up ::: Michael Arnold Kamen (†R.I.P. 2003†) - keyboards, oboe, synthesizer, vocals // Clifton Nivison - lead electric guitar, vocals // Brian Corrigan - rhythm electric guitar, vocals) // Dorian Rudnytsky - electric bass, cello, vocals // Martin "Marty" Fulterman (now "Mark Snow") - drums, oboe, Chinese gong.
Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.
DimeTravel 696 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders! MANY thanks to DIMER ldb001 for working on the reels he was given & passing them along to us. Sincere thanks to whomever uploads this for me. THanks to Ena's neighbor Frank for turning us onto the band's music in 1971! ::: Corrections welcome ::: Wikipedia describes NYR&RE as "classical baroque rock"& (for a while) they played wearing classical musician's attire, white tie&tailcoat. Personally, I feel this categorization did them more harm than good in the long run as they offered FAR more than the limited description suggests & it surely put off many potential listeners. NO good classic rock music collection should be without "Roll Over" for starters & it should be heard with regularity, & there is spectacular material on all their albums. Wonder if we'll ever hear another original line-up tape by these guys, starting to look less & less likely. I know, be glad for what you got & all, but still, wishin'... Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees

ORIGINAL UPLOADER 2010 NOTES (slightly adapted excerpts): Some years ago I received a box of master reels, all recorded in SF area '69&70 by the same taper. Most were 5" spools but a few early ones were 3.25". Taper re-used tapes frequently, often recording over older shows. Sometimes recordings were made on both sides of the tape (mono, although recorded on both channels) & later a single channel of each side was re-used for a new one-channel recording. Tape box&reel labels often referred to older recordings that no longer existed, & even the accurate listings often gave no dates or venues, so there's uncertainty for many regarding exact date/venue. This one was pretty easy to date - on 1 side the headliner (Delaney&Bonnie w/Clapton), narrowing timeframe to 1 night in a 4-day Fillmore West run. A different D&B show from the run was the 21st so this set from 1of the other 3 nights. (UPDATE: Seems this was later narrowed to either 19th or 20th, presumably by D&B comparisons, but not sure how since weekend nights had early&late sets by each group).
