::: EXC FM studio recording. Check samples for knee-jerk no's or jumpin' jack flashes.
::: Warts (NOT many!): Repaired dullspots & dropouts but surely missed a few. Fixed most reception/crackle issues, tho' a few minor ones remain, partly due to percussive music sounds making them hard to catch. #07 has 1 micro-glitch. #08 has a micro-jump in reception repair. #17 start cuts in from tapeflip. Radio broadcast limiters/compressers/AKC created a bit of rushing hiss in quiet passages.
::: COMPARISON CLAUSE: This Mk2 version is a 2020 remaster of the "Mk1" ldb001 2010-10-02 upload (1549days/131d/l's/no reseeds).
::: This was an "Ultra-Sonic & WLIR weekly concert series" event before a (small) live audience.
::: Google "Billboard New York Rock Ensemble June 24 page 48" for band photo at venue on this day.
::: Advertised as "stereo" broadcast but this source is mono. Anyone have an actual stereo (alternate) capture?
::: Most likely some of the instrumental pieces are titled - can you help?
::: 5th LP"Freedomburger"recently released. 5 songs played here (#04/05/13/14/15).
::: Band plays half of their KILLER 4th LP, "Roll Over" (#03/06/08/17/19).
::: Anyone know why LP#4 title song "Roll Over"wasn't on the LP & was issued later on the 5th LP"Freedomburger"?
::: Studio spelling varies. Usually "Ultra Sonic Recording Studios". Billboard says "Ultra-Sonic". (NOT "Ultrasonic").
::: For some time the band performed wearing classical musician's attire, white tie&tailcoat (not tuxedo).
::: IMO, the"classical baroque rock"tag for NYRE did them more harm than good as they were MUCH more.
::: Βrian Corrigan (rhythm guitar&vocals) had already left the band by this time (left after 3rd LP, "Reflections").
::: OUCH! NYRE end up playing"Gravedigger"in the nude (ala Country Joe&The Fish) in "Zachariah" www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5nfMTMqxXc
::: "Zachariah"soundtrack LP"Gravedigger"not just an extended 25secs but different take or quite different mix&overdubs than"Roll Over"LP.
::: "Zachariah-Original Motion Picture Soundtrack"LP"Gravedigger"NOT actual film version.Movie has LOTS of orchestration&is much shorter.
::: The NYR&RE '70"Reflections"LP also issued as"Αντικατοπτρισμοί",a version of the same work with different arrangements&Greek lyrics!
::: Band changed names from "The New York Rock & Roll Ensemble" to "New York Rock Ensemble" in 1971.
::: The New York Rock & Roll Ensemble/New York Rock Ensemble had MANY 45s, ~8 non-LP songs & ~8 edit versions.
::: Only 3 tapes of this band ever DIMED & each was ONLY up'd a single time.
::: Anyone have any other NYRE tapes aside from this Boston 1972 FM//SF Fillmore West 1970-02-xx//Boston 1971-06-18 FM?
::: "Roll Over"tour tape NEEDED w/NYRE playing w/symphony orchestras across USA (including Boston Pops&St.Louis Symphony Orchestra).
::: There is at least one live Michael Kamen tape that makes the rounds, can anyone supply it?
::: ONLY live NYR&RE video footage to surface?"Brandenburg Concerto No.5" www.youtube.com/watch?v=wISDGuwOMpI
::: REQUEST: As it was an UNOFFICIAL release, could someone PLEASE upload this boot LP? self-titled "Former Members Of The N.Y. Rock Ensemble" USA/circa 1973?/Tomorrow TVI-137 (also released on Vibration Records VI-137 _ also a boot). Not even on YTube & I'd love to hear it even if it's pop oriented.

Lineage: WLIR-FM live broadcast > unknown equipment -> master off-air reel-to-reel -> unknown digital transfer method -> 44.10Hz/16bit WAV files > flacs (mastering: track indexing only).

Remastering 2020-12-xx ::: 44.10Hz/16bit 2 channel MONO WAV files/flacs -> computer -> Audacity [normalisation to remove DC offset, channel/phase alignment, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch, bump, clap, pop, click, dropout & dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, +0.5% averaged pitch (speed) fix with single pass after frequency analysis & with pitchpipe verification, NO equalisation (except 1 narrow high frequency spike notched out), NO noise reduction] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. (NOTE: 2nd 1/2 was in better shape than 1st part with less (minor) reception issues & was much easier to repair. Original from a 2 channel MONO tape & left channel had more reception issues&background noise, so after remastering&some patches, used the better right channel ONLY, hence the small file sizes). Freed 2020-12-xx.

Line-up ::: Michael Arnold Kamen (†R.I.P. 2003†) - keyboards, oboe, synthesizer, vocals // Clifton Nivison - electric guitar, vocals // Dorian Rudnytsky - electric bass, cello, vocals // Martin "Marty" Fulterman (now "Mark Snow") - drums, oboe, Chinese gong.

Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.

DimeTravel 698 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders! Sincere thanks to DIMER gv0000 for finally tracking down exact date. Sincere thanks to whomever uploads this for me. ::: Corrections welcome ::: Lovely recording by a first-class, creative, original, influential rock group. Certainly glad they've been part of my musical tapestry, pretty much continuously since 1970/71. Lotta respect! Turn up the volume on this one... Had fun creating a faked stereo version but since it only worked on headphones I didn't pass it along. Maybe it's not too late for a copy of the original stereo broadcast to surface. Hopin'... Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees

ORIGINAL UPLOADER 2010 NOTES (slightly adapted excerpts): This circulated 5yrs ago ((now 15)) on the Kamen forums. Taper captured the original '72 broadcast with occasional static&drop-outs ((now mostly fixed)), but overall quality is quite good. I shared this&the Fillmore West tape&both went to band members. Soon afterwards the surviving members had a reunion of sorts for a radio show celebrating their legacy & they played parts of this WLIR broadcast during the show. I think they're justifiably proud of what they accomplished with the group, despite their substantial musical achievements since.
