This is not a great copy of this show but I've never seen it in circulation and as there appears to be virtually no Paris Slim shows out there, I thought you might enjoy hearing it. Unfortunately the first part of set I is missing and the end of set IV too.
The right channel was virtually unusable and so what I've done is to delete it and copy over the left channel, thereby ending up with a mono recording. The left channel also had quite a few problems too because, although more or less complete, there was severe clipping in places and the levels were all over place. There was quite a lot of hiss present and, in the sections where I boosted the levels it has become more prevalent. The sound was also rather muffled.
I've done what I can to bring it up to a reasonable state and it's now very listenable.
Level adjustments were made using Adobe Audition, iZotope Ozone to eq and restore it to some of it's former glory. I've also carried-out some noise reduction using iZotope RX. I then downsampled with Voxengo r8brain and dithered with iZotope Ozone (MBIT+)
Flaws:
- d2t04 - tape flip crossfaded, after the tapeflip the sound fades in and out for about 30 seconds
- d3t03 - tape flip crossfaded
- There are a number of small cuts, a few small partial dropouts, and various other artifacts
which I haven't documented. These are due to the condition of the reel.
You'll notice that "Hideaway" is played no fewer than 3 times, it seems that the band played it at the end of each set. Some help with the setlist would be welcome and If there is a better copy of this out there, I'd love to hear it.
Thanks to Uncle Barry who transferred this to cassette for me. He had the good fortune to be in a friend's father's record store and spotted a couple of grocery bags full of old reel to reel tapes. This was one of them.
