There are 2 Nicksilver recordings from the same date:

Capitol Theatre, Passaic, NJ, October 8, 1983 (8pm show, short set opening for Hot Tuna)
Folk City, New York, NY, October 8, 1983

Details at http://www.michaelcross.me.uk/jc/gc-det.htm#ct83

Google Maps tells me that Gerdee's Folk City, NYC (which was at 11 West 4th Street, not far from Washington Square Park), is sort-of 'just across the river' from Passaic, NJ.

So it COULD be feasible that they did play both shows in one evening. They'd have to tear down (unless they used some of HT's gear), pack up, drive, then set up again at the other end.
