I have enjoyed this performance many times over the years. Unfortunately the original tape has warped so badly that it is unplayable. I made a cassette dub of the reel at some point and also made a CDR copy several years ago. I was not satisfied with the sound of the CDR so I compared it to the cassette and determined that the cassette actually sounds better. The CDR suffered from muddy sound and the snare drum was not coming through clearly.

This performance is typical of the what the Nighthawks sounded like back then. Whenever we would venture out for one of their shows we knew it was party time. Their records were kind of flat sounding; they were much better live.

This occasion was the reopening of the Psyce Delly after it was sold and expanded. Carl Perkins was brought in to headline the show but to be honest he was blown out of the water by The Nighthawks (no disrespect to Mr. Perkins).
