I'm nearing the end of my Walcott era Oregon shares that began by randomly grabbing some cd-r's off a shelf for the purpose of ripping the music to hard drives, and then discarding the discs. It seems that people here have generally looked favorably at getting some of these shows up and running again, so I've kept at it. That's now brought me to a show that seemingly was only ever up here when glasnostd19 (Ian) shared it 14 or 15 years ago. I grabbed it then, and it's a very fine audience recording, particularly considering it came from just about 45 years ago.
Ian's share had 3 tracks totaling about 75 minutes, and only one song, Timeless as part of track 1, ID'ed. Yet to Be was unidentified, but a separate track (Track 2). Tracks 1 and 3 were typically lengthy Oregon performances combining composed and freely improvised music. I've now re-tracked this show in Audacity, and identified as much of the music as I could. Track 1 was a stage announcement referring to 3 combined pieces that had just been played. That implies that some of the performance is missing.
The Out of the Woods album was released in April, 1978, and a few of the tracks played were on that album. My ID for track 4, Fall (?), isn't certain, but what's played is very similar to that track. The final track, 9, is definitely composed music, but I couldn't place it. If anyone knows it, please let us know in the comments.
Thanks to Ian for his long ago share of this show, and to whoever had recorded this, and passed the performance on.
