Re-envisioning John Coltrane's 'A Love Supreme'
Union Chapel, London
9 December 2014

Very interesting show combining jazz, African and Indian themes into a Re-Envisioning of A Love Supreme. The first hour or so was fascinating but my interest waned when Coltrane's poem to God was incorporated into the piece and occupied the last 20 minutes or so. I can't help feeling this was a mistake. It's cringe making and Coltrane, not a poet, thankfully had the wisdom to consign it to the liner notes.
