The past few years I've been listening to more and more Pat Benatar and realized
if I wanted to ever see her, I would probably want to do it soon. Shes 69 now, yet
somehow still sounds like shes in her 30s. I do not think shes human. She is also
being inducted into the RRHOF this October, which is long overdue having been
eligible since the year 2000. With Pat back on tour, covid seemingly coming to an
end and the pending RRHOF induction, it felt like the perfect time to see her and
Neil. This show was a huge surprise, because while I did not know all of the songs
performed, the ones I heard for the first time have becoming favorites. She
explained the inspiration behind "Purgatory" and after having heard her discuss
DDT (I was too young to remember), the song hit me even harder. Not to mention
it flat out rocked. It was easily one of the highlights for me of the night. Pat
and Neil also changed some of the arrangements of songs keeping them fresh and
different. Missing was her biggest hit, "Hit Me With Your Best Shot", which she
is purposely not playing at this time. Im personally not the biggest fan of the
song, so I didnt mind, but everyone was discussing it on the way out when the
lights came back up. Im sure they are in every city this year. Regardless, this
was an incredible show you'll want to hear. One last thing, I had no idea how
amazing Neil Giraldo is live. The guy absolutely kills it on stage and was a real
treat watching perform. Their pairing is musical magic. Theres no other way to put it.
