Another Jackal Production Vol 35: Pat Travers Band 2025-08-15 California Theatre, Pittsburg, CA
After plugging in Pat says, "My name is Pat Travers, this is my band and we're gonna kick your ass." Yep!!
I always liked Pat Travers and saw him twice in the '70s... on the bill at a Day On the Green in 1978 with AC/DC & Aerosmith, and opening for Cheap Trick at the end of 1979. I hadn't seen him since but stumbled across this upcoming show in some convuluted internet search for something else entirely and decided to give it a go. This was my first time ever in Pittsburg, which is a 2 hour drive in Friday traffic from home (25 miles east of Sacramento). The California Theatre is a renovated 1920s theater that seats just under 1,000. On the floor in front of the permanently installed seats were maybe eight or ten cabaret tables with 4 chairs around each... "VIP seating" (at a whopping $45!). I was seated front and center at one of the tables. Pat seemed to be having some trouble with his equipment early in the show and was down on his hands & knees messing with his pedals a couple times. Honestly, everything sounded great to me. Mid-show, after Born Under a Bad Sign, Pat apparently blew a fuse on his guitar amp. During two extended bass & drum jams Pat's guitar-guy chased down the guitar amp from the opening band, Barnett, Hamm & Vanderhule and, along with guitar player Eric Barnett, replaced the blown gear and jury-rigged the mis-matched amp. Nothing sounded any different to me!
A rocking performance and good sounding capture. Also includes the show poster & some pics I took with my iPhone 15 Pro Max and edited for presentation with PowerPoint.
Enjoy!
