The Maintenance Shop, or 'M-Shop' as it’s affectionately known, is the longest running (since 1974), all ages nightclub in Ames, Iowa. Conveniently located in ISU’s Memorial Union, the M-Shop programs upwards of 60 concerts a year. In addition to local, regional, national and international talent live music shows, the M-Shop hosts a multitude of other events and activities including comedy shows, open mic nights, theater performances and more! Without a bad seat in the house, the M-Shop easily rivals any venue on performance quality and concert experience. In addition to shows, the M-Shop is open daily from 11am-5pm during the academic year for folks to eat, lounge, socialize and just hang out. Plus you can get tickets for upcoming shows at the M-Shop box office!

from The Iowa Public TV website: Maintenance Shop Series: Affectionately called the "M-Shop," The Maintenance Shop is an intimate, 150-seat music club located in the Student Union at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Iowa Public Television combined resources and personnel with the M-Shop to videotape three separate music series from the late 1970's through the mid-1980's, including 19 one-hour jazz programs. These programs were also broadcast nationally on PBS and many have been broadcast internationally, including western Europe, northern Africa and Japan.
