Notes: The Beatles are a thread that run through my entire life, starting in my childhood in the late '70s, all the way up to this very night, and probably until I take my last breath. They have been my favorite band since at least sophomore year 1985, and I can't imagine that will ever change.

I saw Paul McCartney for the first time at Folsom Field in 1993, then, saw him again at the Pepsi Center in 2002, 2005 and 2010 (my wife and I filmed the latter two shows). When he announced a long delayed return to Denver, this was a no brainer for us, regardless of cost, and we took our son and his girlfriend, too. We paid a lot of money for those four tickets, but I must say, after witnessing this performance, it was worth the price of admission. For the memories and the possibility that this was the last time we'll see him here in Denver, it might've been a bargain.

We sat in the 3rd row right off the field, but the first two rows were cordoned off, so, we were effectively first row. Sound was excellent from where we sat, though there was a lot of audience noise throughout the performance. The stadium holds about 50,000 people for concerts, and I would say it was 80%+ full - everywhere I looked, seats were filled, though there were several sections that were covered up in the upper sections off extreme stage left. Overall, this was an excellent crowd turnout.

Pretty much every song you'd hope Paul would play, he did. His voice isn't what it used to be - fortunately, he's downtuned or transposed several of these songs now, so it doesn't seem to be putting as much strain on his singing, though, you can clearly tell he's no longer a young man. He and his band played with admirable energy - I'd have been impressed by this performance for a man half his age. Some of his piano playing and guitar work isn't quite as smooth as it was 15 years ago, when we last saw him, but McCartney is a very charming performer, who had all of us eating out of the palm of his hand for two and a half hours. Honestly, by the time he got to Hey Jude, I was literally in tears, as it almost too much to take in. These songs are so wonderful, and the performances were so engaging, it made me feel like I was that sophomore in high school again, learning about The Beatles for the first time.

In addition to my wife, son and his girlfriend, our neighbors also went with us. A splendid time was had by all - bar none, everyone was blown away by the stage show, the performance, the songs, everything. However much enthusiasm for this show that comes across in this write-up, it's nothing compared to actually seeing it for yourself. The man is a legend. Whatever you've heard about his voice or his age or anything else, you must see him if you haven't, while you still can. Frankly, out of five times that I've seen him, this might very well have been the best one.

As far as the recording is concerned, it's quite good, considering it's recorded in an open air baseball stadium with 40,000+ people present. The acoustic songs are a little quieter, but the so is the crowd. When the music is more rockin', so is the crowd. There's a bit of echo, but it's not too bad. You can hear everything coming from the stage clearly. A few mic bumps, some nearby clapping and/or hootin' and hollerin'.

I've also included 10 photos taken from our seats - they ain't art, but they give you an idea of the stage set-up and how the show looked from where we sat.

Finally: please don't sell the recording, but, otherwise, do with it what you wish. Share it and trade it, and remember: these and other greats will not be around forever, so, let's enjoy them while we have them. Best wishes to all of the fans out there and Namaste.
