notes:
-OK, I'm finally digging into my old cassettes, masters and 1st gen copies from close friends. We taped alot of NYC jazz in 1980's. You got a taste of
some of our Sun Ra shows awhile back. Had the perfect storm of Paul passing away, being at my storage, having time to look through archives today, feeling
inspired, so I pulled this one and a few other Paul ones out plus a whole bunch of other goodies from then, and late 80's/early 90's in SF Bay Area too!
I should have some time during the holidays to start getting some of these up to finally share - lots of rare gems. Focused just on jazz for now.
-I don't think I was at this show - it was likely taped by Wes on his Aiwa. It still sounds pretty good - thin on low end for sure and not highest
quality on recording, but quite listenable to - in "B+/B" range all things considered. The tape stops abruptly after each song ends and starts abruptly
too (Wes used to cut out the banter and dead air to save valuable tape minutes). We used to love to go see Frisell back then with whoever he was playing
with! Wes, being a drummer himself, likely dug Paul quite a bit.
-therefore, I think Frisell shines/is sick! in this one (I admit Lovano is not one of my faves), but all 3 of them are right on...and Paul's cymbals...
-dedicated to Paul - thanks for all the great music and amazing cymbal work through the years! Rest in peace.

-share freely but please don't trade in lossy format. I doubt you'll get much on Ebay for it - hope your motherboard fries if you try!
