We continue our journey around Paul Simon's early solo years with one of four nights at Avery Fisher Hall during Paul's "Still Crazy After All These Years" tour.

Shows during the early solo Simon touring years, post S & G breakup, have proven difficult to confirm. I've seen two different sets of dates for these NYC shows: This show came to me from my old trading partner MR as October 29th, likely due to there being a bootleg that circulates as October 29th. After researching, I've come to the conclusion, unless he played Avery Fisher Hall on two separate occasions in a 5 week period the October 29th date is likely not correct.

A number of sources put the shows as running November 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th. Art Garfunkel's website mentions "In November, Paul Simon was performing at New York's Avery Fisher Hall. Art Garfunkel came on stage at the end of the show and sang several songs with Paul including "My Little Town," "The Sound of Silence," "Scarborough Fair" and "Old Friends."

There is a New York Times article dated November 29th that says "Deployed above and behind, Paul Simon, his band and his Stage set Thursday night at Avery Fisher Hallthe last two of his four performances..."

This just clouds things further as the 27th was on Thursday, the first night, so the stand fell on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday so the last two performances would have been on Saturday and Sunday. The only possibility regarding this is there is more information in the article that I cannot view since it is a subscription site.

It does appear he played in Dallas on November 2nd and Austin during that same time period though the Austin date is a confirmed show but not a confirmed date. The reason I mention these Texas dates is he makes a comment about those dates during this show which would definitely put this show AFTER November 2nd and the run of Texas shows. So, unless more info becomes available or a ticket stub for the 29th then it will remain cloudy as to the exact date and I'm labeling it as taking place during the November run of shows.

The show is once again very similar in quality to the '74 shows I posted the last few weeks, with a bit of hiss but the music and dialogue are clear with some distance on it. It's an enjoyable listen and one I think will elicit repeated listening considering the rarity of 1975 shows.

As mentioned previously, we get an added bonus of Art Garfunkel guesting on four songs as well as a humorous moment when Paul's voice cracks during "America" and he stops playing.

Thanks to MR for the files, samples and artwork included and I hope you enjoy another rare document of Simon's early solo touring years.
