Although I don't know the source and generation, this tape sounds wonderful. At first I thought it was a soundboard, but how loud the audience was recorded and the way the recording levels are adjusted makes me think this is an audience recording. The recording starts off with the recording levels set too high, distorting the sound. This is adjusted a few seconds later, quickly, and then slowly adjusted again for a better balance. It feels more like this is done on a portable machine than on the desk.

The tape flip was between Fly High Fall Far and Chase the Jewel. You can hear the introduction to the latter was cut, but no music is missing.

I got this tape from a friend in the UK who got it in the 1980s. It must have been a very low-generation tape. He sent me his tape, not a copy.

I usually keep audience recordings at FLAC 16 bits but after transferring it at 24 bits/96 KHz, this was so good I decided not to downsample it.

The noise reduction I did was almost nothing, but the whole tape had a hum (might have been there in the venue) at a rather high frequency that was easy to remove without hurting the music. I rarely do this because it often takes away some of the atmosphere as well, but this was worth it.

Enjoy!
