Comments:

Note: This is a 16/44.1 file set, which can be burned directly to CD. A higher-fidelity 24-bit version has been posted separately. The recording is seamless; the disc breaks above are merely a suggestion.

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see diverse rock legends onstage together in support of Roger's charity "Teenage Cancer America." The show had a very slow build - after Roger's introductory speech, Eddie performed acoustic either solo or in combination with one of the Townshends, after which Pete gave a short speech and played a couple solo tracks. It was nearly an hour into the show before an electric guitar made an appearance! Nonetheless, the music they performed was spell-binding; Eddie in particular was in peak form.

In the latter part of the show, Joan Jett and Joe Walsh each took a turn on guest vocals, with differing results (Joan Jett was passable, Joe was kind of a mess), after which Eddie came out to front The Who. Though everything up to this point was quite enjoyable, seeing Eddie Vedder as the lead singer of the Who was spectacular. The five songs he sang with the full band were worth the ticket price in itself.

In terms of recording quality, this is pretty good but a bit distant. $250 didn't buy much for this show; I was in the center of the balcony about 1/3 of the way up. I don't really hear any crowd interference on this recording, although there were people talking in the aisle behind me for much of the show. If you're a Who and/or Pearl Jam fan, you'll probably want this one due to the uniqueness of the show.

Mp3 samples are included in the comments.
