notes:
-another from my archives, this is one of Wes' master recordings I am sure due to hearing his cheering on the tape, the abrupt cuts at the end of each tune
that he used to do to save tape, and the "sound" of his Aiwa recorder. By this time he had gotten some type of stereo external mics which definitely
improved his recordings' quality! This is quite listenable to: in the "B+" range - it's clearer and more dynamic then his older recordings.
-Peter is known for his compositions for plays and movies these days, but back then he had some regular gigs with this band playing composed jazz with
a New Orleans meets Broadway flaVor - this show is a good sample of that - some real fine jazz music here - you should give it a shot if curious - gets
even Zorn- film-composition-like at times. I'm surprised at how good it is whenever I listen to it. I figure this one may be pretty unknown/obscure/low
interest since I've never seen any other Peter shows in decades of collecting.
-track 7 is a continuation of track 6 with a atape flip dividing them. the last track seems to be one very long piece with different parts - they never
stop playing.
-could not quite catch the last 3 musicians exact names despite being announced twice.
-the band was labelled "PG Intraboro Orchestra" on my tape; listed as "PG Intraboro Big Band" in Dec 1988 NY Times Magazine music club listings; called "PG
Love of Life Orch" by PG himself in interviews etc.; and finally during the show he calls the band as I have it written out above on top of page. So take
your choice on name!
