OldNeumanntapr Notes-
This show was billed as the 'Pozo Summer Festival', and included The Chambers Brothers, Peter Rowan And The Free Mexican Airforce, and Richie Havens who headlined. The Pozo Saloon is a 100+ year old stage stop out in the middle of nowhere. The concerts are always held in the back of the saloon, in the field. This was back when the ‘stage’ was the back porch of the saloon, and you had to deal with trees that interrupted the sightlines. Since then there has been a larger stage built further back from the saloon in the pasture where the concerts are currently held. I’d never seen Peter Rowan or Richie Havens before. This was the show that where I found out that John Kahn, Jerry Garcia's bass player in the Garcia Band, had passed away. Peter Rowan mentioned it between songs and it came as a shock to me, because I hadn't realized that he'd died. I also recorded Richie Havens, along with the song ‘The Time Has Come’ from the Chambers Brothers. The Havens set is good, but I never could find the snippet of the Chambers Brothers, as it got lost long ago.
