Phoebe Snow (born Phoebe Ann Laub), in 1950 in New York City, grew up in Teaneck, New Jersey.
Graduated from Teaneck High School and attended Shimer College in Mount Carroll, Illinois, but did not graduate.
Later moving to New York, she carried her prized Martin 000-18 acoustic guitar from club to club in Greenwich Village, playing and singing on amateur nights.
It was during this time that she chose her fictional character's stage name.
One of the nights that Phoebe was performing at The Bitter End club in 1972, a promotions executive named Denny Cordell for Shelter Records,
was so taken by the singer that he signed her to the label and produced her first recording.
She released her debut album, Phoebe Snow, in 1974. The album spawned Top Five singles on the Billboard Hot 100.
While she performed as the opening act for tours by Jackson Browne and Paul Simon. 1975 also brought the first of several appearances as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live.
In 1976 Snow ended up signing to Columbia Records, releasing her second album. Snow was awarded a Certified Gold Album on July 9th, 1976.
In 1979, she toured extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada with noted guitarist Arlen Roth as her lead guitarist and Musical Director.
In 1981, Snow, now signed with Mirage Records, released Rock Away, recorded with members of Billy Joel's band; it spun off the Top 50 hit "Games".
As the years progressed, there were still major hurdles for Snow, who spent long periods away from recording,
often singing commercial jingles for AT&T; and others in order to support herself and her daughter.
Near the end of her career, after many years finally releasing her last and live album in 2008.
Then on January 19, 2010, Phoebe Snow suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and slipped into a coma, enduring bouts of blood clots, pneumonia, and congestive heart failure.
She passed away on April 26, 2011 at the age of 60.

observational notes:
I saw this date listed over on Wolfgang's Vault. I was able to use their 30 second audio samples as a pitch guideline.
I dialed this recording in to the correct pitch. This tape sounds great now !!!!
Wolfgang's set list indicates 2 additional songs that were not included on this tape. I've listed those 2 songs in the set list.
Phoebe does a great version of The Beatles "Don't Let Me Down".
At the end of "Two-Fisted Love", I believe Phoebe says that a gentleman named Brian Michael was on vocals.
If you're a fan of Phoebe Snow, I highly recommend you grab a copy of this for your collection.
Check samples for quality.
