Comments:

Despite the relatively bad sound quality, the performance was pretty nice. Roger Waters does some very vibrant deep-throating screaming on the Pink Jungle, and The End of the Beginning is also very nice. The bass comes through clearly, but again, the sound quality detracts from the overall performance. The Labyrinths of Auximenes is cut, I believe. Pink Floyd topped the bill of the Ninth National Jazz And Blues Festival followed by The Soft Machine. This 3 day festival was originally going to be stages on a dericict site on Horton Road, West Drayton, Middlesex, but the local council refused to grant a license. The organizers relocated the vent to Plumpton. The first night was interupted by power problems during The Soft Machine's set. Over an hour of silence passed before the Floyd hit the stage, many were alseep by then. "The Floyd finally appeared at 11, very cool and unconcerned by it all, starting with a cautious sounding 'Heart Of The Sun'. Their sound was as nicely balanced as it's ever been outdoors but there was a controlling restraint that went through the first part of their set which was unfortunate under the circumstances, as already there were hang-ups with the last train. Apart from their first two songs their set was made up of the second half of their concert programme - 'The Journey', and it wasn't until mid way through this that they really moved the audience and by that time it was too late.
