Atom Heart Mother Tour, US Leg 2, Show #18

Tickets were $2.50 for students and $3.50 for the public. The gates opened at 10am and music was schedule from noon till dusk.
Dry Creek Road, Hot Tuna, and Leon Russell & Friend performed before Pink Floyd. Redeye is also listed on the ticket, but none of the promotional material, and there is no evidence that they actually performed. Tycobrahe provided the sound system.
Pink Floyd was not originally scheduled to play last. Due to transportation issues, the schedule was rearranged day of show. The temperature high for the day was 70 degree and the sun set at 6:12pm.
The 2012 San Diego Reader article by Jay Allen Sanford indicated that Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast was also performed.
"They actually sat at a little folding table and ate for part of the song," says Tee, "with tapes of voices and sound effects playing in the background."

Speed corrected and remastered by cleantones (May 2025)

cleantones notes:

I was delighted to discover this newly surfaced stereo audience recording of this performance at UCSD 1970. I'm assuming it's an audience recording. The source and recordist is unknown. I'm told Tycobrahe's engineer also recorded this performance, but that recording is in mono. When this first came to my attention, there was a vinyl rip, an iteration with speed correction, and an iteration of that with additional EQ. Each of these three versions leave all of the vinyl surface noise. I was first interested in reducing that noise. While immersing into the recording and performance I realized I wanted to go a little further. With all due respect to the folks involved with the previous versions of this. I found that "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" was running fast/sharp and Saucerful of Secrets was slow/flat. I went back to the first version, the straight vinyl transfer to create my own remaster. In my version, I've addressed much of the surface noise, speed inconsistencies, as well as some other optimizations. Working from the master tapes would be preferred but that is not available to me. Post production was performed in 32bit floating point using various professional tools. This version is presented in 24bit 96khz. The same as the source vinyl rip. It's probably a little overkill but that's okay. I've also created a 16bit 44.1khz version. I hope you enjoy this fantastic recording of 1970 Pink Floyd. I also ask, if you wish to have a go at your own version, please do as I did and get the source vinyl transfer. Please do not iterate with my work. Thank you. - Clinton Vadnais
