Konserthuset
Gothenburg, Sweden

Lineage: Cassette -> CDR -> FLAC

DISC 1 (39:24)
1 Libest Space Monitor
2 The Embryo
3 Fat Old Sun
4 Green is the Colour

DISC 2 (41:05)
1 A Saucerful of Secrets
2 Atom Heart Mother (slightly cut)
3 Blues

Total Time: 80:29

Notes:
Transferred from an unknown generation analog cassette and seeded on it EZtree a little while back. This is not a bootleg release, the seeder appears to be a tape trader, but unfortunately does not have generation information.
A good/fair audience recording. It's incomplete (at least 'Careful with that Axe, Eugene' is missing, and probably 'Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun'), but it does include one of the few recorded versions of 'Libest Space Monitor', which serves as a lead-in to 'The Embryo'.
Originally marked 71-2-6, corrected date - Libest Space Monitor is an impro version of Moonhead
Please note that Blues is definitely from Offenbach 26Feb71 (all the circulating versions of the mysterious 11/11 or 12/12/1970 show have Blues from Offenbach).
According to this site < http://xoomer.virgilio.it/saravidoniguidoni/roiodetails/70/ >, the ultimate version would be "Pictures Of Pink Floyd" (EX-), but you also need to complete it with "Green Is The Colour" and the "Atom Heart Mother" announcement, available on "Command Performance" in VG+ quality.

PICTURES OF PINK FLOYD volume 1 & 2

release: TOPSOUND
date/venue: 1970 November 11 - Konserthuset, Gothenburg, Sweden or 1970 December 12 - The Roundhouse, Dagenham, Essex + 1971 February 26 - Stadthalle, Offenbach, West Germany (rec. 2)

source: audience / lp > cdr[?] > EAC > WAV > archived in shn
tot length: 80:55 total / 71:32 + 9:23 (71.2.26)
overall: EX

PICTURES 1
01. Embryo - the librest spacement (monitor) [21:16]
02. Fat Old Sun [13:28]
03. Blues [6:20] 71.2.26
04. Atom Heart Mother - remergence [3:03] 71.2.26

PICTURES 2
01. Green Is The Colour [3:29]
02. A Saucerful Of Secrets [18:05]
03. Atom Heart Mother (long version) [15:11] - terrible speed problems

This is the raw rip from LP without any NR applied, there's some vinyl noise but sound quality gains on brightness compared to my other versions. Also this is exactly as the LP's are, without any patch. Again, the date of this recording isn't sure yet, this i either labeled as 1970 November 11 - Konserthuset, Gothenburg, Sweden or 1970 December 12 - The Roundhouse, Dagenham, Essex or 1971 February 6 - Royal Albert Hall, London. As noticed before this is also from 2 dates, Blues and Remergence are from 1971 February 26 - Stadthalle, Offenbach, West Germany (recorder 2). -gotta_be_crazy

Comments:
This seems to be the accepted date for this fabulous concert. Often listed as 2/6/70 (or 1971),
it seems that November 11th 1970 was the real date.
There is a long version of Embryo, similar to the one in Hamburg 3 days later ... and it's one of my
favorites!
I think it is also farily well known by now that Embryo was never really introduced as The Libest
Spacement Monitor
but it's rather Roger saying "Your majesty the Queen, my Lords, Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Nicholas
Mason!".
I really like this one since the performance is great.
The only drawback is that there are a lot of crackles and pops on my copy
(which originated from the ultra rare Pictures Of Pink Floyd LP),
so the whole thing can get really annoying on headphones.
Overall, this title is really recommended and it seems to be very widespread by now.

This RoIO is often refered to as Royal Albert Hall, London, February 6th, 1971.

Blues and Atom Heart Mother (reprise) included with this show are from 2/26/71

Quality: VG+/EX-

Overall score: 9/10 -orangemaze@aol.com

Comment: Pictures of Pink Floyd
Concerning date and venue:

They played in Sweden. I got proof. A guy I know went to the university library in Lund and
got some scans from newspapers. There's a review of the concert and ads for it dated 11.11 and
12.11. The review says that the concert starts with a number that seemed more like a warmup
and that fits good with the corrosion/embryo song. --- frostbrent, 15 January 2004

Other comments:

Some people say 11-11-71 or 12-12-71 or 26-02-71. The date 06-02-71 Royal Albert Hall is perhaps wrong.
I'd guess 1970 rather than 1971.

This is the same gig as the one released on "Pictures Of Pink Floyd" but:

- it has less clicks between the tracks but the passings between some tracks are still not smooth. It is difficult to say where this problem comes from because it can be caused by burning audio CD from an image file instead from extracted tracks.
- the source is not as close to master as "Pictures" are (sound is more hissy and goes consistently around VG/VG+ , whereas "Pictures" sounds EX except from the Blues which sounds like comming from cardboard box)
- it includes announcement before AHM
- it has one more song - Green Is The Colour

About each song:

1) this one sounds more distant but has the same announcement
2) applause is cutted and Green Is The Colour starts (different source? but it sounds like it comes from the same the same gig)
3) "Pictures Of Pinkfloyd" doesnt include this one (nice version!)
4) same as the one on "Pictures Of Pink Floyd" but:
- it has announcement
- it has the cut at 7:02 (this point on "Pictures is at 5:50, announcement is not so long - to slow?), the approx 2.5 minute of Daves and Ricks singing is missing - the part where there are temporal speed problems on "Pictures"
5) seem to be the same
6) sounds better than on "Pictures"
