Well well well! Thanks to the kind efforts of RemembranceCCF, who found an intriguing reel labelled Philadelphia Spectrum June, 28 1977 we now have a new - and improved - recorder for the 29th. Yes. Not only a New recorder, but one that sounds better than the one we have been familiar with for all these years.

This is a good show. The crowd are lively, as they tended to be at these US arena shows. Roger gets pissed off the crowd and the seeds of discontent are obvious. It's suggested that he didn't perform during the encore.

*** Transfer Notes ***

This is a transfer from RemembranceCCF's Maxell LN 35-90 1/4 inch reel. The reel was in good condition and recorded at 3 3/4 inches per second. I used my Pioneer RT-707 to play the tape back. The tape had good levels with a slight left/right channel imbalance. The tape ran the full length of 'Side A' with a cut and repeat that could be joined seamlessly, within Shine On (Parts 6-9).

*** Mastering Notes ***

The objective of this release was to provide a simple archive copy with minimal changes performed against the raw transfer. Adobe Audition was used to correct the slight channel imbalance, and to match level on the two sides of the tape.

Reaper was used to apply lossless Speed Correction, according to advice given by Goldenband, who recommended the following factors:

Set 1 - Sheep - Pigs (Three Different Ones) : Apply 1.75% increase
Set 2 and Encore - Shine On (Parts 1-5) - Us and Them : Apply 2.5% increase

There is some phase imbalance at the start of Have a Cigar, which was native to the recording on the reel, not this playback.
