NOTES:
First of two Pixies shows at consecutive nights at the legendary Paradiso Theatre in Amsterdam (in hindsight of course I should have gone to both shows). Phenomenal show with a setlist containing songs from the very onset of Pixies to new and unreleased stuff. This was the first tour after Kim Deal had left the band and Kim Stattuck had joined, and as it turned out it would be the only tour with Kim Shattuck aboard, as she would be dismissed a few months later. I personally think she did a great job.

I recorded this standing at the edge of an elevated part close to the right speaker stack, so I was slightly above the people right in front of me and had a pretty much undisturbed "view" of the stack. There is some audience chatter and singalong during a few songs, but it is hardly disturbing or distracting. I did splice out a few instances of yelling in between songs, and removed some mike rumble in between songs and a lot of loud and nearby clapping all over the place.

Sadly a few people in the moshpit were pretty obnoxious, in particular one jerk, who tried to snag Charles's microphone off the stage after the first encore! Fortunately this was prevented by some more sensible people around him, but this visibly annoyed Charles so much that the band didn't return for a second encore, which deprived us from in any case Where Is My Mind, which allegedly was mentioned on the set list taped to the stage.

I (a Pixies newbie) went to this show with a good friend of mine (a huge Pixies fan), who had menioned that I could join him only if before the show I would have checked out the first few albums (which he lent me) and the loudQUIETloud documentary. It's great to go to a show of a band which for you is essentially unknown with someone who can provide you with the necessary background information. This made the evening even more worthwhile. I dedicate this recording to him, he is a great friend and a major support to me, even with a few pretty tumultuous things happening in his own life during the last few years. Thanks a lot, I love you, there comes a time when you're drifting, there comes a time when you settle down (it might have come actually).

No artwork. Anyone inclined to make some, go for it!
