NOTES:

I found myself in Austin, TX again on another house/dog sitting trip and I saw the Pixies were in town (with Spoon opening up), so there was no way I was going to miss this opportunity. I'm glad I packed my audio recording gear, for possible scenarios just like this one. I hadn't seen the Pixies since Pasadena Daydream back in 2019, when Paz was still in the band (now replaced with Emma Richardson). I think Emma plays just fine, though I personally would prefer Paz, and I think the setlists were a tad better with her in the band. And speaking of setlists, while I don't think this night's setlist was the best by any stretch...they did play most of their new stuff early on (all the songs are about Chubby Checker according to Frank), leaving the large chunk of the night dedicated to fan favorites/hits.

Seats were decent (by the soundboard), though we stood for most of the show (thank God) anyway, so it didn't matter much (though true standing room only would have been preferred). But it was a beautiful night, and the sound was loud and clear, and I didn't have very many chatters around me, so that was all a plus.

Again, overall, a solid show by the band (though nothing mind blowing - though you can't expect that at this point in their career), a cool venue and another successful trip to Austin (which also included my very first college football game with the Longhorns beating pathetic San Jose State). No complaints. Enjoy!
